Biomethane
Biomethane is a type of renewable natural gas that is produced by the breakdown of organic matter through a process called anaerobic digestion. This process involves the use of microorganisms to break down the organic material, such as agricultural waste or sewage, to produce methane gas.
Biomethane can be used as a substitute for traditional natural gas in a variety of applications, including heating, transportation, and electricity generation. It is also considered a low-carbon fuel as it significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuels.
Green Hydrogen
Green hydrogen is a type of hydrogen that is produced using renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, rather than fossil fuels. The process of producing green hydrogen, known as electrolysis, involves using electricity to split water molecules (H2O) into hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2).
The hydrogen produced can then be used as a fuel for transportation, industrial processes, and electricity generation, and it does not produce any emissions during use. Green hydrogen is considered a clean energy source, as it does not emit greenhouse gases or pollutants when it is produced or used. It is considered a key technology to achieve decarbonization targets in sectors where electrification is not possible or practical.
Global BSI
A business sustainability index (BSI) is a measure of the overall sustainability performance of companies or organizations. It typically takes into account a variety of factors such as environmental performance, social responsibility, and governance. The index is used to rank companies or organizations based on their sustainability and to identify areas where improvement is needed. These indices often use different methodologies, metrics and sectors coverage, some of them are sector-specific.
Companies that rank well on these indices are generally considered to be leaders in sustainable business practices and are often sought after by socially responsible investors.
